Advent is a sacred time of reflection, anticipation, and preparation for the celebration of Christ’s birth at Christmas. During this season, we are reminded that we are in the hands of God, much like clay in the hands of a potter.
VESSELS OF HONOR
When humans devise their own plans contrary to God’s will, they face difficulties and frustrations. However, when they submit to God and allow themselves to be moulded like clay in the hands of a potter, God shapes them into vessels of honour.
PREPARED FOR SERVICE
Just as a potter shapes clay into something useful, God shapes our lives to make us ready for His work. The shape, design, height and color of the vessel that comes out of the potter’s hand is a well thought plan, a preconceived vision the potters mind.
LEADERSHIP AND STEWARDSHIP IN THE POTTERS HANDS
All Christians, have been endowed with gifts and responsibilities. These are shaped and directed by God, the ultimate leader and steward of all creation.
GROWTH TO SPIRITUAL MATURITY
When we abide in the Lord and He continues working on us, we are bound to grow from level to level. However, most Christians have not allowed themselves to be transformed by the power of God. In the Potters hands we shall grow
PATIENCE IN THE POTTER’S HANDS
This month, our focus is on the theme of “Patience,” inspired by Luke 2:21-31, which tells the story of Simeon. Simeon, a devout man in Jerusalem, had been waiting for the Savior, trusting in God’s promise that he would not die before seeing the Messiah.
FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
In the third month, we focus on Jeremiah 18:4. The potter had clay in His hand and was working on it. He had a vision for the intended shape in mind, but the clay was marred.
TRANSFORMING LIVES (PENTECOST)
The desire of our flesh is in direct contrast with the will of God in our lives. Being led by the Holy Spirit is central to the Christian life, guiding believers toward holiness and transformation.
GOD’S MASTERPIECE (EASTER)
The key word in the month of April is workmanship, some other Bible versions use words such as masterpiece or handiwork instead of workmanship. This month as we allow rest in the hands of the Potter, we acknowledge that he shall mould us and create us into masterpieces.
Broken to Be Remade (Lent)
In the third month, we focus on Jeremiah 18:4. The potter had clay in His hand and was working on it. He had a vision for the intended shape in mind, but the clay was marred.
