VESSELS OF HONOR

When humans devise their own plans contrary to God’s will, they face difficulties and frustrations. However, when they submit to God and allow themselves to be molded like clay in the hands of a potter, God shapes them into vessels of honor. Just as a potter knows the kind of vessel he wants to create; God knows what purpose each person is best suited for. Many people spoil God’s plan by resisting His guidance, but those who submit and cooperate with God enjoys fellowship with God.

The Christian life is about daily surrender, submission, and overcoming self. Each day brings new victories as one grows into Christ, fashioned according to the divine model. Every believer is called to uplift the standard of truth and work in God’s order. When self is exalted, Christ is not magnified. God compares Himself to a potter and His people to clay. The lesson to learn is submission to His will. When attention is given to divine instruction, and self is surrendered, God produces a shapely vessel for His service.

A potter kneads, works, tears apart, and presses the clay to make it fit for use. Similarly, God, the Master Worker, desires to mould and fashion us. Our role is not to do the work of the potter but to yield ourselves to His moulding. By allowing God’s hands to work on us, we become vessels for His use, reflecting His divine similitude.

Submission to God’s will and the continuous process of being moulded into His likeness should be the desire of all Christian. By cooperating with God, believers grow into a beautiful and useful vessel, fulfilling the divine purpose He has planned for them.
