This month, our focus is on the theme of “Patience,” inspired by Luke 2:21-31, which tells the story of Simeon. Simeon, a devout man in Jerusalem, had been waiting for the Savior, trusting in God’s promise that he would not die before seeing the Messiah. Despite years of waiting, Simeon’s patience and faith never faltered. When Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the temple, Simeon immediately recognized Him and praised God, declaring, “My eyes have seen your salvation.”
Simeon’s example teaches us the importance of patience. Like him, we often find ourselves waiting for God’s promises to be fulfilled. Waiting can be challenging, but it is also an opportunity for growth and trust in God’s timing. Patience involves believing that God is at work even when we cannot see it.
God is often compared to a potter, and we are the clay. Just as a potter shapes the clay with care, God is molding us to fulfill His purposes. This process requires patience, as it involves enduring delays while maintaining hope and faith.
Reflecting on Simeon’s example, we see that waiting patiently allows us to trust God’s perfect timing and plans. Patience is like a muscle that needs exercise, and the times we wait can be fertile ground for developing it. Instead of resenting delays, we should embrace them, trusting that God is at work in us, shaping us for His purposes.
