Twenty years is a long time. It is a duration worth thanking God. Through such a long period of time, a church can experience much turbulence. Just like in a journey, pot holes disrupt the smooth flow of the church. However, God also creates a more than equivalent time of his favour.
From just an open ground, Thome church has grown from a canvass roofed shelter, through a corrugated iron structure to the beautiful permanent structure whose construction is still ongoing today. It is therefore a time for placing a stone as a mark and declare its title as Ebenezer.
Just like the our theme of this twentieth year anniversary, it is now a time to rise up and shine for the glory of God is focusing on us. It is a time when we should change tact because our God is promising a renewal, as well as building and gathering of his people in order to reclaim what has been lost. This goes together with the 21st general assembly theme “let us rise and re-build” (Nehemiah 2:18)
We declare blessings to the church’s Veterans who dared to dream and saw it possible for a Church to start in Thome. The splendor we are seeing today is the actualization of their vision. May their families never be in any want.
To us who currently hold the mantle of seeing it continue to change the spiritual lives of the people of Thome and bringing them to God , may our Lord grant us patience , perseverance and love for each other.
Just like Isaiah tells the children of Israel let us rise up and shine for our light has come(Isaiah 60:1).
